Natural, relaxed newborn photography in Abergavenny & Monmouthshire

Those first few weeks with a new baby can pass ridiculously quickly. My newborn photography sessions are about capturing them as they really are at this stage, along with all the little moments between you as a family.

Sessions take place in the comfort of your own home, so there’s no need to pack everything up and get a newborn out of the house for a photo shoot. I’m based in Abergavenny and offer newborn photography throughout Monmouthshire and the surrounding area, including Crickhowell, Usk, Monmouth, Brecon, plus nearby parts of Herefordshire and Blaenau Gwent.

There’s no strict schedule to stick to. Sessions are completely baby-led, with plenty of time for feeding, changing, cuddles or simply settling your baby if they need it. If we have to stop for twenty minutes, we stop for twenty minutes.

Relaxed newborn photography at home

My style is natural rather than heavily posed. I won't arrive with elaborate sets or expect your baby to stay in a particular position. Instead, I photograph the little details, cuddles, sleepy moments and interactions between you that naturally happen at home.

Parents and siblings can be as involved as you'd like.

I mainly work with natural light and keep my editing simple, preserving natural skin tones and colours rather than using heavy filters. The aim is to give you photographs that still feel like your family when you look back at them years from now.

The Storybook Collection includes all of the strongest edited images from your session. I don't work to an arbitrary image count; instead, I concentrate on delivering a gallery that tells the story of your time together and only include photographs I'm genuinely happy with.

Newborn photography around Abergavenny

I'm based in Abergavenny and generally photograph newborns and families within around an hour of home, covering Monmouthshire and nearby areas of Powys, Herefordshire and the surrounding South Wales countryside.

Because newborn sessions take place at home, you don't need a perfectly styled house or lots of space. I'll find the best light and locations when I arrive, and we can use bedrooms, the nursery, living room or anywhere else that works for your family.

  • There isn't a strict age your baby needs to be. The first few weeks are lovely for capturing those tiny newborn details and sleepy moments, but there's no problem if you'd prefer to wait a little longer. We'll plan the session around what works for you and your baby.

  • Don't worry, that's completely normal, and as a father of two young children - I get it! My newborn sessions are baby-led, so there's plenty of time for feeding, changing, cuddles and settling your baby whenever needed. There's no pressure to stick to a strict schedule.

  • Not at all. You don't need a perfectly styled home or lots of space for an in-home newborn photoshoot. I'll look for the best natural light when I arrive and we can use whichever rooms work best, whether that's the bedroom, nursery or living room.

  • Absolutely. Parents and siblings are included in both of my newborn photography packages, and I'd encourage you to get involved. Some of my favourite newborn photographs are the simple, natural moments between a new baby and the rest of their family.

  • Wear something you feel comfortable in and that feels like you. Neutral or softer colours tend to photograph well, and I'd generally avoid large logos or very busy patterns. There's no need for everyone to match, and I'm happy to offer some advice before your session if you're unsure.

  • I'm based in Abergavenny and offer in-home newborn photography throughout Monmouthshire and the surrounding area, including Crickhowell, Usk, Monmouth, Brecon and nearby parts of Herefordshire and Blaenau Gwent. I generally travel up to around 45 minutes from Abergavenny for newborn and family sessions, so if you're unsure whether I cover your area, just get in touch. I’m happy to go further for a small extra mileage charge.
